PDF Quality Control: How to Ensure Professional Documents
Before sending a PDF to clients or stakeholders, run through this quality checklist.
1. Check Page Order
Use Organize Pages to verify and fix page sequence. Nothing says 'unprofessional' like pages out of order.
2. Verify Orientation
Scan through the document to ensure all pages face the right direction. Fix any sideways pages with %%Rotate PDF|/tools/rotate-pdf%%.
3. Check File Size
If your PDF is over 10 MB for a text document, consider %%compressing it|/tools/compress-pdf%% to make it more shareable.
4. Review Metadata
Check that the document title, author, and subject are appropriate. Clean up with %%Edit Metadata|/tools/edit-metadata%%.
5. Remove Draft Markup
Ensure no review comments, annotations, or tracked changes remain in the final version.
6. Test the File
Open the PDF in a different viewer or on a different device to verify it displays correctly everywhere.
